I’m heading home to Vancouver on Friday for a long overdue visit with family and friends.
One of the things I’m most looking forward to is making a visit to two of my favourite record stores in Vancouver.
Zulu Records
Located on West 4th, a little west of Burrard Street, Zulu is a longtime haunt for record lovers in Vancouver.
I still remember fondly making treks out to Zulu to pick up punk albums that I had little hope of finding elsewhere in the city and surrounding area.
In addition to a healthy supply of new vinyl, they have a respectable stock of collectible used vinyl.
Scratch Records
Up until recently, Scratch was located on Richards Street, just south of West Georgia (“Scratch on Dicks). This fall, they moved to a new location on East Hastings Street, just off Carrall. I’m excited to check out the new space.
Scratch used to have a larger quantity of vinyl than Zulu (at least when I lived back home), especially punk and hardcore, so I’m intrigued to see whether that’s still the case.
As always, I’ll report back about any interesting acquisitions.
